Singapore Airlines (SIA) has partnered with OpenAI to develop and implement advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies. This collaboration should be defined as OpenAI's first collaboration with a major international airline, aiming to revolutionize customer service capabilities and transformed operational efficiencies at SIA.

In this partnership SIA and OpenAI will primarily focus on improving the existing AI-based virtual assistant and capabilities, accessible online through SIA's website. OpenAI's high-end multimodal AI capabilities, which integrate text, audio, diagram, and video input, will help SIA provide a more unified, natural experience in planning, booking, and organizing the customer's journey.

“By leveraging advanced AI solutions, we aim to enhance operational efficiency, boost staff productivity, and elevate the overall customer experience, thereby strengthening SIA Group’s position as a leader in the aviation industry.” Senior Vice President Information Technologyof SIngapore Airlines, George Wang, said.

The new virtual assistant will provide smarter personalized assistance to help travelers find their perfect destinations and make better decisions with real-time, relevant data. In addition, the new solution will improve customer experience by further automating travel management and increasing self-service ability to maximize engagement and interaction with SIA.

In addition to customer services, Singapore Airlines will integrate or embed OpenAI's advanced problem-solving AI models into internal systems that facilitate complex operational processes. They plan to enhance the scheduling of flight crew by considering regulatory conditions, operational constraints, and available resources. The AI will provide analyzed information instantly, allowing for more efficient and accurate decision-making so that all operations run smoothly and will help improve travel for users.
